Got Questions? Top ELD Questions Answered

Q. A colleague and I were discussing AOBRDs and enforcement. Since we only need to keep six months’ worth of logs — what do we do during an audit once it’s more than six months out from the original compliance date?

A. If your fleet is currently equipped with an AOBRD and you’re looking ahead to the December 2019 deadline, one thing you can do is print the driver’s log for every truck equipped with an AOBRD, and place it in a file marked “AOBRD evidence” or in some other way that will make it readily identifiable to an auditor that there is proof you were in compliance prior to the ELD transition period. If you choose not to record or copy the AOBRD logs, you may need to rely on your AOBRD vendor to provide proof of install records or receipts to auditors that you were, indeed, in compliance and using an AOBRD prior to the ELD transition date in December 2019.
