Horton is introducing a new line of aftermarket fan clutches, reman and repair kits targeted at owners of older trucks. The Klondike line is designed to OEM specifications but priced for the value-conscious, aftermarket buyer. Klondike was developed to give second or third owners of a vehicle, a higher-quality, dependable fan clutch option at a competitive price.

"Owners of five- to 10-year-old trucks and trucks are not willing to pay as much for parts as the trucks age," says Manish Virmani, vice president of global market development at Horton. "We know there is a growing number of older, off-warranty trucks out there, so we are targeting the Klondike line directly at owner-operators and smaller fleets who keep their trucks longer or buy used trucks."

Designed, built and tested to meet OEM specifications the entire Klondike line of two-speed, on/off and fan clutch kits feature single-row bearings with high-temperature grease and Viton seals for reliable operation. While they offer the high torque necessary to turn large fans, Klondike fan clutches engage smoothly and more gradually than competitive options to enhance belt and tensioner life, the company says.

The modular design helps make the Klondike fan clutches easy to install and maintain, and it helps reduce the number of parts distributors will need to carry to service aftermarket customers.

"We want to reduce SKU count and part number complexity," says Horton project manager, Mathew Stahl.

The Klondike lineup includes a wide array of products to accommodate a wide variety of needs. The initial offering includes DM On/Off, DM Two-Speed, HT/S On/Off, S-Type On/Off and 32 On/Off fan clutches. Cross-branded products available through the Klondike brand include Kysor-style Repair Kits (K22/K26/K30/K32) and the K32 On/Off Fan Clutch (New).

The associated valves, switches and repair kits are also included in the new product line.

To help dealers minimize inventory, the Klondike repair kits are universal and designed to fit a wide range of applications. Additionally, the on/off and two-speed fan clutches feature dual pilots of 2.56 and 5.0 inches to further minimize inventory requirements.

The Klondike by Horton line of products will be phased into the market, starting with select dealers and distributors, who can begin ordering immediately. Supported by 17 distribution centers, the line will also be part of Horton’s QuickShip program for truck-down situations.

All fan clutches, kits and accessories come with a standard one-year warranty, and the same reman exchange program is in place for genuine Horton products.
