Transervice Logistics, Inc., was selected by Phillips Pet Food & Supplies to provide a dedicated contract carriage solution at the company’s new Cedar Rapids, Iowa, distribution center. This includes drivers, equipment — tractors, trailers, straight trucks, and electric pallet jacks — routing, and scheduling.

An exclusive distributor of fresh and frozen pet food and other pet supplies, Phillips opened up a new warehouse in Cedar Rapids to better serve its increasing customer base in the upper Midwest and Plains States and ensure that its refrigerated products were delivered safely and in compliance with cold chain requirements.

“Phillips utilizes insulated containers with dry ice to maintain the required temperatures of their products from the warehouse to the delivery point,” said Wolfgang Marschhauser, Transervice Senior Vice President of Sales. “Our drivers are responsible for monitoring and verifying the temperature of the product at the time of delivery and using electric pallet jacks to move product from the front of the store to the back since the majority of Phillips’ customers do not have loading docks.”

Working with Jeffrey Poore, Sr. Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations for Phillips Pet Food & Supplies, Transervice follows a delivery schedule that determines the number of routes, stops, trucks and drivers that are required to safely and efficiently deliver the company’s fresh and frozen pet food and other pet supplies to its customers.
