Marangoni Tread North America wants to change the way you think about retread tires. The company has launched a new video, titled “Extreme” – the first in a series to promote retreading worldwide.

According to Marangoni, fleets that follow good tire practices and are left with good tire casings as a result can customize their retreading program to achieve better reliability, durability, mileage, and traction for traditional trucking applications. The company also notes that retreading is economically beneficial and environmentally sound.

Still, misconceptions about retreads persist. So Marangoni conducted a video demonstration using a custom 2006 Jeep LJ retreaded with standard Marangoni retreads. The tires were retreaded by an independent Marangoni dealer with instructions to simply retread them as they would any other tire. A professional driver took the Jeep rock crawling in Southwest Utah, covering some of the most brutal and tortuous terrain he could find.

.

The vision behind this demonstration and subsequent video, the company said, was not to sell retreads to the extreme motorsports world. Instead, it's intended to show that if retreaded tires using good practices and good casings can withstand the torture and abuse of these extreme conditions, then they will for sure perform during normal trucking applications.

The video also reinforces Marangoni’s view that retreading is a much wiser choice than buying and running cheap, non-retreadable tires.
