Ford Motor Co. is recalling an estimated 162 2018 F-53 stripped truck chassis with 22.5-inch wheels and a 22,000-, 24,000- or 26,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating because the front-wheel studs were improperly heat treated.

To remedy the situation, Ford will notify affected upfitters and dealers by mail and instruct them to inspect, remove and replace the suspect front-wheel hub studs as required in accordance with the dealer bulletin technical instructions.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

The affected units were built at the Detroit Chassis Plant between June 13 and 22. Ford's reference number for this recall is 18S21.
