As part of a push for fleet modernization, Trac Intermodal has added 16,000 chassis equipped with the latest equipment to serve key markets.

Trac Intermodal is a North American provider of intermodal marine equipment and chassis pool manager, with nine pools under management across the U.S. This year, the company purchased 8,000 new and 8,000 fully refurbished chassis featuring LED lights, original equipment manufacturer tires, new brake systems, and new wiring harnesses. The modernization was aimed at providing the intermodal industry with more access to higher-quality equipment and supporting the industry’s need for safety, performance, and operational flexibility.

The company began its fleet modernization program in 2015. Since that time it has upgraded 40% of its Metro Pool, 25% of its Gulf Regional Pool, and 15% of its Marine East Pool fleets.

“We’re on track to meet the ambitious plans we set for ourselves to modernize our marine chassis fleet and provide our customers with the most reliable equipment available in the industry,” said Keith Lovetro, president and CEO at Trac Intermodal. “Trac is committed to meeting our customers’ requirements for chassis that are safe, high-quality and always available through the Trac chassis pools across the country.”
