Rich Clair has been named president of Solar Transport, a Midwest tank truck carrier and logistics provider. Clair previously served as the chief operating officer at Trinity Logistics, where he still sits on the board of directors. While there he helped expand earnings and revamp the company’s strategic plan to focus on capital allocation, business development, and technology, according to an announcement.

In his 38-year career, Clair also has held executive positions at Ryder System, Highway Technologies, Mail Contractors of America, and First Transit. Clair has a Master of City Planning with a Transportation Concentration from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts.

“Rich has a proven track record of building growth-oriented logistics companies that deliver value to their associates, customers and shareholders,” said Mike Clausen, chief direct investments officer of parent company Krause Holdings. “The depth and diversity of executive leadership experience Rich brings will allow Solar to further refine our position in the logistics marketplace.”

Solar Transport manages, transports, and delivers petroleum products such as gasoline, ethanol, diesel, and jet fuel. The company has 27 terminals in 19 states with regional offices in Iowa, Colorado, California, and Missouri.
