Sentinel Systems is launching its latest generation of reversing radar systems to the refuse and waste market, the company announced.

Sentinel’s new reversing system was created after working with a number of local authorities and private collection companies to come up with a system that benefits drivers personnel and operators. The system is installed at the rear of the vehicle and is designed to detect obstructions like buildings, objects or people while he vehicle is in reverse.

The radar audibly warns the driver of an obstruction, telling him or her to stop, and can physically stop the vehicle in its tracks if the driver does not react. Once the obstruction passes, the system resets itself and allows the driver to resume backing up.

The reversing radar systems can be enhanced by other Sentinel safety products, including external and internal vehicle cameras and the Bike Hotspot system.

Sentinel Systems has been designing and manufacturing vehicle safety systems for 30 years and has developed many solutions for commercial vehicles in a wide array of sectors. Each of the company’s systems can be used as part of custom packages designed to meet the safety requirements for each fleet.
