Got Questions? ELDs and Telematics

January 16, 2018

Q. We haul fertilizer from a retailer to farm locations, or frequently grain at harvest time from the farm to the elevator, all within 150 miles of our primary location. Will we need ELDS?

A. The FMCSA has recently exempted the agriculture industry from the mandate for 90 days (from December 18th) to review the impact of ELD’s on the industry. This may apply to you.

If it does not, you will need to seek additional details from your local DOT department for more specific questions about your situation. You may be eligible for a short haul exemption as outlined in CFR 395.1.
