Qualcomm is adding two applications to its new Mobile Computing Platform 50 that will have particular appeal to private and delivery fleets. It also announced an installation program to make it easier for fleets to get up and running with the new, lower-cost device.

The MCP50, first announced over a year ago, has been available for about three weeks and already Qualcomm has 200 contracts according to Norm Ellis, vice president of sales, services and marketing for Qualcomm Enterprise Services.

At the National Private Truck Council annual meeting this week in Cincinnati, Ohio, Qualcomm announced it will add the Circle of Service Workflow and Trip Manager applications to the MCP50 this summer. With these applications, private fleets can now more readily take advantage of the safety, compliance and productivity solutions delivered by the MCP50.

The company also announced it's teaming up with InstallerNet Inc., a provider of technology-based intelligent service solutions focused on the electronics installation market, so fleets can take advantage of InstallerNet's Nationwide Fleet Installation Program developed specifically for fleets adopting the MCP50.

This collaboration adds an estimated 1,100 fleet installation technicians, offering fleets broad access to local installation and service resources.

"Circle of Service Workflow and Trip Manager are applications that address critical operational needs of private fleets, helping them to operate more efficiently and cost-effectively," Ellis says. "By streamlining and automating trip-related communications and instructions, Workflow and Trip Manager can help fleets ensure they maximize loaded miles."

Qualcomm's Trip Manager application grants visibility into trip details and route planning that is critical to ensuring private fleets operate as efficiently as possible and drivers are more productive. Trip Manager and Circle of Service Workflow, combined with the other applications available on the MCP50, offer an integrated end-to-end solution for improved management of driver assignments in near real time.

Circle of Service Workflow and Trip Manager complement the benefits delivered by other applications available on the MCP50: Qualcomm Hours of Service, CSA Safety Performance Service, Vehicle Inspection Report, Analytics Manager, Critical Event Reporting, Performance Monitoring with Fuel Manager and In-Cab Navigation.
