CargoNet introduced a new iPhone app to work with the company's anti-theft services.
It will provide mobile access to the CargoNet's current offerings.
A division of Verisk's ISO Crime Analytics unit, CargoNet helps prevent cargo theft and improve recovery rates through secure and controlled information sharing among theft victims, their business partners and law enforcement. CargoNet is centered on a national database and information-sharing system managed by crime analysts and subject-matter experts.
CargoNet applies an integrated approach that exploits the weakness of cargo thieves at multiple points and includes:
* Recovery - Through CargoNet's 24-hour call center, CargoNet takes theft information and quickly passes it to statewide law enforcement systems that transmit the theft alert to investigators, task forces and patrol cars.
* Deterrence - CargoNet members can affix theft deterrence decals to their tractors, trailers and premises to deter theft.
* Analytics - The CargoNet database collects an volume and detail of data surrounding cargo theft. Combined with advanced analytics, the data offers potential for investigative support and predictive modeling to improve risk management within the supply chain.
