Rair, a provider of safety and compliance services to the trucking industry, announced the launch of its drug and alcohol testing program.

The new program offers a complete range of drug testing services including collection, testing, reporting, and Medical Review Officer (MRO) duties. Mary K. Tappa, Rair's executive vice president of operations, has more than 20 years of experience in administering drug testing programs and will oversee the new service.

"Our goal is to offer a complete menu of services aimed at reducing carriers' exposure to the risks of non-compliance with federal safety regulations," said J.J. Singh, president and CEO. "Drug testing is a natural fit." Rair's drug-testing business will be Web-based like the company's existing services of driver log auditing, CSA 2010 compliance, driver management and vehicle management.

"This takes us back to our roots," said Henry M. Goldberg, founder and chairman of Rair. While this is a new service for RAIR, the company was born out of the drug testing industry: Goldberg, who is a physician, was formerly president of Substance Abuse Management Inc., a third-party administrator of drug testing services that served many of the country's largest trucking companies.
