Auburn Hills, Mich.-based BorgWarner has announced that its Cool Logic variable speed fan drives are now standard on Mack Granite, Titan and Pinnacle trucks, used in dump truck, mixer and snow plow applications, as well as highway hauling.

According to BorgWarner, its Cool Logic fan drive can improve fuel economy by up to 3 percent.

Responding to signals from the engine control module thousands of times per minute, Cool Logic fan drives electronically vary fan speed to provide consistent, precise temperature control that automatically adjusts to load and road grades. The wet-friction clutch design reduces engine drag, delivering more horsepower and better fuel economy.

Its actuation logic system delivers quiet operation to increase cabin comfort and reduce driver fatigue. The product also extends the life of the entire cooling system, including the radiator and charge air cooler, and decreases wear on serpentine belt components, the company claims.
