Mark IV has unveiled a new preclearance system transponder, which allows users to verify the operational status of their transponders with the push of a button.
The systems will be deployed by PrePass in the fall.

"Federal law requires commercial carriers to verify the pre-trip status of many elements of their equipment before embarking on their journey," said Dick Landis, president and CEO of Help, the public-private partnership that offers PrePass. "Many drivers and carriers have looked for that same functionality in their onboard preclearance transponders."

The new transponder has the same high-performance and form factor of the current generation of TDMA devices, and also features a self-test button.

The new devices are technically compatible with those used by other preclearance systems including Norpass, Oregon's Green Light and North Carolina's NCPass. In addition, they can be used in other CVO applications where automatic vehicle identification is used, such as Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's wireless roadside initiative, yard access control systems and trailer tracking.
