CHS, a grains and foods company, has developed the new Cenex Roadmaster XL and Ruby Fieldmaster Premium Diesel Fuels to meet the demands of existing engines and new engine technologies.

"The premium diesel fuels have not only been proven to deliver increased efficiencies, but they also extend the life of fuel injectors and protect fuel pumps from wear," said Chad Pistulka, CHS product manager.

"We've seen an 8 to 10 percent increase in fuel economy," said Dave Millar, a fleet owner based in Edgerton, Wis. "It's very hard to do anything in your operation where you see that kind of return."

CHS designed the fuels with the new engines in mind, which operate under higher temperatures and pressures, the company said. The fuels feature specialized detergents, injection stabilizers, demulsifiers and corrosion inhibitors, which deliver benefits over standard diesel fuel, such as improved fuel efficiency by as much as 5 percent, the company said.

Compared to standard diesel fuels, the new products improve lubricity by 10 to 15 percent and boost engine power by as much as 4.5 percent. In addition, the company said they can extend the lifecycle of injectors and fuel pumps and reduce downtime and repair costs.
