TRP Aftermarket Parts has developed the new CleanBlue diesel exhaust fluid, which can be used in all diesel-powered vehicles that rely on selective catalytic reduction technology.
TRP's CleanBlue is available in 2.5-gallon jugs, 55-gallon drums, 275-gallon totes and 300-gallon totes.

CleanBlue is clear, non-toxic, non-polluting, non-hazardous and non-flammable, TRP says.

"Depending upon the engine manufacturer, DEF consumption is expected to be approximately 1-3 percent of the diesel fuel consumed," said Everett Seymoure, global manager for TRP. "As an example, at a 2 percent consumption rate, for every 50 gallons of diesel fuel burned, you will need one gallon of DEF."

The SCR process works to clean NOx from the vehicle's exhaust downstream of the engine. A small amount of DEF is routed from the vehicle's DEF tank and injected as a fine mist into the hot exhaust stream. It then vaporizes and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia in conjunction with a special catalytic converter breaks down the NOx into harmless nitrogen and water vapor.
