Continental Tire North America's new HDR1 drive tire, built for regional applications, is being unveiled to the North American market.

With its open shoulder design and 28/32nds of tread depth, the model provides wet and dry traction, high resiliency and long mileage for regional haul trucks. Equipped with a compound that prevents cuts and chips, the tire also resists irregular wear to provide longer lasting durability.

The HDR1 also features the company's stone ejection system to reduce stone retention and casing penetrations, scuff ribs that protect sidewall from curbing and cutting. The tire's groove bottom allows for sufficient passage of water, ice and snow.

"The Continental HDR1 is a highly robust tire that can withstand the demanding traffic of regional operations, while still providing excellent handling and all-weather suitability," said Clif Armstrong, director of marketing for Continental commercial vehicle tires, the Americas.
