CR&R Environmental is partnering with Southern California Gas Co. on the construction of an eight-inch pipeline that will provide carbon-neutral natural gas to CR&R's refuse fleet, the company and utility announced.
The renewable natural gas from the pipeline will be used to power CR&R's fleet of approximately 900 waste hauling trucks, and is expected to be operational by June.
The pipeline from SoCalGas will connect to CR&R's new anaerobic digestion facility, which will be used specifically to fuel the trucks. The carbon-neutral natural gas can be used for trucks to generate electricity or fuel heating systems.
