AmeriPride Services has taken delivery of 21 Ford F-59 trucks powered by hybrid-electric powertrains for the company's uniform rental and linen supply delivery fleet.

XL Hybrids supplied its XL3 hybrid electric drive system for the vehicles that will be added to AmeriPride fleets in Arizona and Minnesota, according to the company. AmeriPride already operates a fleet of hybrid-electric service vans with XL3 systems in Canada.

Since 2013, AmeriPride fleet vans with XL Hybrids technology have driven more than 300,000 miles, yielding a 24% improvement in MPG and reductions in carbon-dioxide and nitrogen oxide. The company has saved nearly 4,500 gallons of fuel and reduced 40 metric tons of carbon dioxide. Over the projected 10-year life of these vans with XL Hybrids technology, AmeriPride is expected to reduce approximately 17,000 gallons of fuel and more than 160 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

The F-59 platform supports more than 15,000 pounds of payload. Installation of the XL3 system leaves the Ford engine, transmission, fuel system and exhaust system intact. It retains the Ford warranty, and XL Hybrids adds a three-year, 75,000-mile warranty for the XL3 hybrid powertrain.
