WL Byers and Southern Pines announced that the two trucking companies will combine in an equal partnership under the Southern Pines name offering services in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

David Byers will be named the president of Southern Pines, with Pat Gallagher taking on the duties of chief executive officer.

“It makes perfect sense to join forces as our partnership of working together totals more than 25 years,” said Byers. “The size of the combined fleet along with the versatility of the fleet will expand our service options and customer base.”

Byers Trucking is a family-owned business operating 30 trucks and over 130 trailers and specialized equipment with over-size haul load capabilities of up to 350,000 pounds, 160-feet long, 32-feet wide and 21-feet tall.  Southern Pines has a fleet of more than 30 trucks and specializes in the transport of industrial gases and hazardous shipments.

“Southern Pines now has the versatility of the amount and type of equipment in the fleet; plus, we will now offer by including specialized division of oversized shipments as Hazmat and non-hazmat,” said Gallagher. “We can now provide a one-stop shop for Hazmat loads as well as provide a broader range of services.”
