Omni Holdings offshoot Omni Specialized will be in full operation after it acquired the flatbed assets of Tennant Truck Lines, the company announced.

The newly formed company will be offering general commodity flatbed and over-dimensional, open deck specialized service.

The Tennant Truck Lines name and authority will continue to operate, as a van carrier, under the ownership of Josh Kaburick, who's also the owner and CEO of E.L. Henderson Trucking.

After a long run as the CEO of Tennant Truck Lines Inc., Aaron Tennant sold the operation to Kaburick about a year ago. However, Kaburick decided to focus on the van operations and divested the open-deck equipment. Many of the Tennant flatdeck operations' employees and drivers also moved over to Omni, according to the company.

"By acquiring the flatbed assets of Tennant Truck Lines and hiring many of its office employees and drivers, we are able to immediately meet the shipping needs of customers that rely on us for quality, on time and damage-free service," explained Thomas Witt, president of Omni Specialized.

Witt, an industry executive with more than 35 years of experience, will serve as Omni’s president. Fellow 35-year veteran Earl Coleman will oversee financial management of the company.

Omni Specialized, based in Colona, Ill., is an over-dimensional and general commodity carrier providing service with a fleet of platform, low-profile step deck and RGN double drop trailers. The company operates two terminals located in Baltimore, Md., and Wichita, Kan. In addition to Omni’s asset-based open deck truckload capabilities, the company offers extensive logistics-based solutions.

"This is our first step in establishing a platform from which to grow both organically and through acquisition,” said Witt.

Aaron Tennant remains in the trucking business. In October 2014 he purchased a trucking company, Simplex Leasing Inc., based out of Jamestown, N.D. The company has about 45 trucks and hauls agricultural and construction equipment. He also started a new business in 2015, Total Solutions Inc. in Davenport, Iowa, which provides payroll, employee leasing, IT and HR services to small-medium sized businesses.
