The Double Coin RLB450 drive position tire has met the requirements for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Technology Program, the tire company announced.

The RLB450 has met the low rolling resistance tire performance criteria for new tires being used in the drive position on linehaul Class 8 tractor trailers.

The SmartWay Technology Program tests and verifies the performance of vehicles, technologies and equipment that have the potential to lower greenhouse gases and other air pollutants.

In addition to the RLB450, Double Coin has six tires that are SmartWay certified. These are Double Coin’s RR680, FR605, FD405, FT105, FT125, and the FD425.

“The RLB450 meets today’s transportation requirements and joins six other Double Coin fuel efficient models in our product line,” said Teresa Galvan, director of customer service at CMA/Double Coin. “Our customers can be assured that using any of our low rolling resistance tires will assist them in reducing emissions and increasing fuel mileage.”
