FCA US (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is recalling 1,771 Ram 4500 and 5500 cab chassis trucks in the 2014 and 2015 model years, so dealers can adjust the electronic unit software to ensure it limits truck speed to 87 mph.

The trucks in question currently have a maximum governed speed of 106 mph, but they are fitted with tires rated for a maximum speed of 87 mph, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. If a truck exceeds the tires’ maximum speed rating, the tires are at risk for sudden failure.

The recall got under way on June 10. Truck owners can reach FCA customer service at (800) 853-1403. FCA’s number for this recall is R17.
