The California Trucking Association has announced the Labor Law Consortium, an ongoing effort to provide the trucking industry with labor and employment law training resources.

Developed with the law firms Scopelitis and Littler Mendelson, the one-year collaboration aims to aducate the industry on California’s complex labor laws, address best management practices, and promote better understanding of labor agency and private entity standards.

“CTA has always been committed to simultaneously helping the trucking industry successfully deliver food, clothes, and other goods to California communities while also navigating California’s complex regulatory environment” said Shawn Yadon, CTA CEO. “Through this collaboration, everyone from individual owner-operators, small businesses and the largest international carriers will have access to expert advice from the nation’s top labor law minds.”

Scopelitis is a full-service international law firm serving the transportation industry. It specializes in state and international labor laws including wage and hour, employment and the classification of owner-operators.

Littler is a global employment and labor law practice known for its litigating, mediating and negotiating of employment law cases and labor contracts.

“The CTA consortium will provide the trucking industry with tools to grow their knowledge of California’s complex labor laws,” said Richard H. Rahm, Littler shareholder. “This program will attempt to bring employers some clarity.”
