Lancer Automotive will add XL Hybrids’ XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System to its roster of alternative technologies, which includes compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied propane gas (LPG), and electric-vehicle products, to provide a full spectrum of fuel efficiency improvement solutions for commercial fleets.

Lancer will begin offering the system after entering a non-exclusive installation partnership and distribution agreement with XL Hybrids, an alternative-fuel conversion company.

"XL Hybrids' powertrain technology makes economic sense for our fleet customers, offering a solid return on investment," said Scott Brandeberry, a Lancer vice president. "This agreement paves the way for the fleets we serve to boost fuel economy and reduce total life cycle costs, while supporting their sustainability goals."

The XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System installs in about six hours and is the lowest-priced hybrid system available for GM and Ford passenger and cargo vans, as well as cutaways and stripped chassis, according to XL Hybrids.
