The trucking company USA Truck announced the appointment of Alexander D. Greene to its board of directors.  With the addition of Greene, the USA Truck Board expands to 10 members.

Greene brings over 30 years of corporate finance and private equity experience with him, according to the company. He was most recently a managing partner and head of U.S. private equity at the investment firm Brookfield Asset Management.

"I have known and worked with Alex for many years, and we are delighted to have him join our board,” said USA Truck Chairman Robert A. Peiser. “We believe the financial, business and strategic acumen he has demonstrated throughout his distinguished career will be extremely valuable to USA Truck as we work to further improve the company's financial performance and create long-term shareholder value."

The announcement follows news a week ago by USA Truck of an agreement between it and United Shareholders for the Benefit of USAK, which is made of the investment firms Baker Street Capital Management and Stone House Capital Management. Vadim Perelman, managing partner and CIO of Baker Street Capital, and Thomas Glaser were appointed to the  USA Truck’s board of directors.

Oversight of the Arkansas-based carrier has been a major issue for the company with it reaching agreements with its largest shareholders over concerns about USA Truck's financial situation.
