Covan World-Wide Moving and its affiliate, Coleman-American Moving Services, are accused by the federal government in a civil action of having “systematically falsified weight certificates, shipping records and invoices by increasing shipment weights,” over a period of several years.
A federal judge in Columbia, S.C. set the trial for March and April of 2015, but dismissed part of the complaint claiming Covan and the affiliate engaged in a conspiracy. Five other claims in the lawsuit were allowed to stand.
Over the past several years Covan and its affiliates have earned more than $700 million for shipping military belongings
Attorneys for both Covan and Coleman have denied the claims.
