The electronic toll collection system Bestpass has announced it has expanded its service footprint to include the seven facilities managed under the Bay Area Toll Authority in California.

The partnership allows Bestpass customers to incur tolls on BATA facilities without the use of an additional transponder. In addition, all BATA toll usage is incorporated into a single invoice, which combines close to 29 tolling authorities made up of over 92 facilities.

BATA manages state-owned toll bridges which include: the Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael, San Francisco-Oakland Bay and San Mateo-Hayward bridges.

Bestpass is currently testing facility integration with the BATA.  General rollout to customers is expected in March.

"The addition of BATA on the heels of our recently added services in Colorado is moving BESTPASS one step closer to its goal of providing a national solution to commercial carriers," said John Andrews, president and CEO of Bestpass.

Bestpass was started in 2003 by the New York State Motor Truck Association, to save commercial motor carriers time and money related to interstate electronic toll usage. It offers transportation savings, management and efficiency solutions, including discounts on tolls, e-tolling account management tools and a single device for both tolling and nationwide weigh station bypass, with a consolidated bill and single point of customer service.

Bestpass is compatible with E-ZPass, ExpressToll, PrePass, Norpass, NCPass and NJPass to provide tolling and weigh station bypass coverage throughout the United States.
