More than 100 truckers will hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 21, and an entourage of law enforcement officials will accompany them as part of the 2013 World’s Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

The event will begin at the Pioneer Travel Plaza in Richfield (Exit #60 off of Highway 41) and will run for 53 miles along the Highway 41 route to Exit #113 at the EAA grounds at 3000 Poberezny Road in Oshkosh, WisI.

The event is presented by Quad/Graphics. Truckers will bid on their chance to ride with this year’s celebrity guests, Edgar Hansen of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, sponsored by E.H. Wolf & Sons, Inc. and Miss  Wisconsin Collegiate America 2013, Corianne Strupp.

The event will conclude with a celebration party including food, raffle prizes, a live auction and award presentations. Convoys will be held across North America to raise funds for Special Olympics.

The event takes place in more than 20 states and four Canadian provinces, and is partnered with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

For the past five years, Wisconsin’s Convoy has been the top fundraising Convoy for Special Olympics and has raised more than $606,000 since 2005 to benefit people with intellectual disabilities.
