A plan by South Carolina lawmakers to bring in around $800 million for road and bridge work without raising taxes has gotten a thumbs up from the South Carolina Trucking Association.

“There has finally been an unavoidable realization that major attention is going to have to be paid to finding adequate funding for a highway system that’s in dire need of improvement, and this is a great first step,” said Rick Todd, SCTA, president, who was quoted in the Aiken Standard newspaper.
