Traffic in both directions near Harrisburg, Pa., has reopened following a tanker crash and fire that closed the route last Thursday.

A truck loaded with diesel rolled over on a ramp, resulting in a massive fire, buckling the steel beams. The Pennsylvania DOT said it was concerned damage was so bad that the ramp could collapse on the interstate. Since then parts have been removed and protective shielding has been put up. The ramp will be replaced later while I-81 is open to traffic.

To help deal with traffic congestion after the fire closed I-81 on Thursday, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission waived tolls between the Carlisle interchange and Harrisburg East interchange to utilize this part of I-76 as an I-81 detour.  Now that I-81 has been reopened, this waiver will end at midnight on Tuesday.
