New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority board voted unanimously to approve a fare and toll increase for all MTA facilities. The new fare and toll rates go into effect on March 1, 2013.

The final proposed fare and toll increases were amended from initial proposals announced in October as a result of comments received from the public during a six-week public review process that included eight public hearings and four video sessions.

Cash tolls for five-axle trucks will change as follows:

- Verrazano-Narrows Bridge: Goes from $70 to $80

- Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge, Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and Queens Midtown Tunnel: Go from $35 to $40

- Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge: Go from $17.50 to $20
