A new agreement between the Army and Con-way Truckload gives priority hiring status to soldiers participating in the Partnership for Youth Success program.

PaYS is a partnership between the Army and a cross-section of U.S. corporations and public sector agencies. It was developed to help the Army attract, train and deploy talented people who want to serve their country and secure future success once their Army service is complete.

The U.S. Army Recruiting Command and Con-way Truckload signed the agreement Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Enlistees interested in gaining specific job training and qualifications will receive that training during their military service. After finishing their military service, soldiers who expressed an interest in working for Con-way Truckload will receive a job interview if openings exist in their field of interest.

"This is clearly a win-win for both organizations," said Lt. Col. Vernon Jakoby, commander of the U.S. Army's Kansas City Recruiting Battalion. "Con-way will gain employees who have developed professional work habits and who have been held to the highest standards, while our soldiers gain the opportunity to enter into another great organization where they can add value."

Con-way Truckload employs over 3,000 drivers with a fleet of more than 2,700 tractors and 8,000 trailers operating throughout the United States as well as internationally in Mexico and Canada.
