Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has appointed Carlos Hungria chief operating officer and a member of the Bendix executive board.

Hungria joins Bendix after a 30-year career as a part of the Volvo organization. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer at Volvo Powertrain. While in that role, he led corporate operations worldwide, introducing Lean Strategy, reaching record production levels for heavy-duty engines and transmissions, and directing the construction of a $200 million manufacturing plant in India.

He served in a variety of key management roles, including senior vice president at Volvo Powertrain; vice president of Purchasing and Supply Management at Volvo Construction Equipment; vice president of Purchasing at Volvo/Mack North America; vice president of Purchasing for Bus North America - Volvo Bus Corp.; and director of Product Development, Purchasing, and Product Planning at Volvo de Brazil. He began his career at Volvo de Brazil as a manufacturing manager - Trucks and Buses.

Bendix is also implementing a new corporate governance structure consisting of a two-person executive board, made up of Hungria and Joe McAleese, president and CEO. This will help guide the existing Bendix Leadership Committee.
