The Truck Renting and Leasing Association announced the two winners of its scholarship for children of member-company employees for outstanding scholastic and personal achievements. Akhil Patel of Westerville, Ohio, and Yuxin Guo of Columbus, Ind., have each been awarded $5,000 scholarships
renewable for three more years of college if they maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

The award was announced at TRALA's 34nd Annual Meeting in Dana Point, Calif.

Patel, the son of Mukesh Patel, a Volvo Trucks North America employee and his wife, Jayshree, attends Thomas Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio. He received a Diploma of Distinction for science, foreign language and performing arts, is a National Honors Society member, Spanish National Honors Society member, a member of the soccer team all four years, Varsity MVP and Scholar Athlete in 2011, member of the school jazz band for four years and a Leadership Worthington Graduate. He plans to attend the Brown University in Providence, R.I., in the fall.

Guo, the daughter of Linsong Guo, a Cummins Inc. employee and his wife Autumn Yu, attends Columbus North High School in Columbus, Ind., where she is a National Merit finalist, co-president of Key Club, AP Scholar with Honor, Bartholomew County Youth Leadership winner and Chinese language school teacher. She plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania in the Fall.

Close to 200 students applied for this year's two scholarships.
