Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks Inc. have both signed on as exclusive OE sponsors of ATA's America's Road Team for 2011.
A premier trucking industry safety outreach program, America's Road Team uses professional drivers with outstanding driving records to deliver messages about highway safety by teaching car drivers how to safely drive around large trucks by delivering life-saving messages about potential blind spots, safe following distances, truck stopping distances and other important topics.

"All of us at Volvo Trucks are very proud to continue as a sponsor America's Road Team," said Ron Huibers, Volvo Trucks North America senior vice president, sales and marketing. "We believe this is one of the most important and effective highway safety efforts out there."

"At Mack, we know the professional drivers are the heart and soul of Share the Road and they will make excellent use of the new truck," said Michael McNally, Mack vice president, sales. "Through the efforts of these drivers, the industry is getting the word out about safe driving practices to everyone from senior citizens to teen drivers. We are honored to remain involved in this important work."

The Captains are frequently referred to as ambassadors for the U.S. trucking industry. Each year, they speak to hundreds of groups of lawmakers, government officials, students, regulators and other truck drivers. Their presentations include safe driving tips and highway safety information, much based upon their own experiences, as well as the importance of trucking to the American economy.

For 2011, The Captains will use two specially designed power units donated by Mack and Volvo Trucks to pull a trailer extensively outfitted as a mobile presentation facility, allowing them to more effectively deliver their messages wherever they go.
