J.J. Powell has signed on to become the distributor of Prime Lube's BlueSky diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) throughout central and western Pennsylvania.

Under the deal, J.J. Powell will distribute BlueSky throughout 15 counties covering the region from Lewistown and Phillipsburg to Bellefonte and Clearfield. J.J. Powell, a distributor of lubricants, diesel fuel and heating oil to commercial, fleet and industrial consumers in the region, has been a Prime Lube partner in these efforts for more than 30 years. J.J. Powell operates nearly a dozen Pacific Pride stations in the area.

"BlueSky is the perfect DEF product to complement our existing fleet lubrication business," said Jeff Powell, J.J. Powell president. "Through Prime Lube's manufacturing partnership with Kruse, we have the advantage of dealing direct with the manufacturer, providing our customers with a higher-quality product and at a better price than our competitors."

In April, Prime Lube announced its partnership with Germany's Kruse Group, a global DEF manufacturer and raw materials supplier, to manufacture and distribute BlueSky DEF throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

"As demand for DEF grows, we're uniquely positioned to help Mid-Atlantic distributors and consumers keep their DEF costs as low as possible by producing BlueSky locally, which cuts down significantly on transportation expenses," said Robert Arbasetti, Prime Lube chief operating officer. "And, we're the only manufacturer in the region to provide an end-to-end DEF solution, including the necessary storage and handling equipment."

Prime Lube's BlueSky DEF is ISO and API approved to help neutralize the nitrous oxide emissions generated through diesel exhaust. In its most basic form, DEF is a blend of urea and de-ionized water that combine to form ammonia, which turns nitrous oxide emissions into harmless water vapor and elemental nitrogen.
