The National Surface Transportation Safety Center for Excellence and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute are developing a driver health outreach website, which will feature fatigue and health-related information for commercial truck drivers.

The website is being created in response to the Driver Health Study, sponsored by NSTSCE, which found that most drivers do not maintain a healthy body weight and are at increased risk for drowsiness.

The new resource will provide a place drivers can get information on diet and exercise, as well as how to overcome barriers to living healthy on the road. It will include an online forum where drivers can share their own healthy living tips.

The website, which is still in the initial states, will formally launch Dec. 31.
