The Utah Department of Transportation has started to work on the Utah County I-15 Corridor Expansion Project, which involves building 24 miles of freeway improvements on Interstate 15.

UDOT hopes to complete the project by December 2012, and will work along the entire corridor both day and night to reach this goal. Drivers can expect narrowed 11-foot lanes, narrowed shoulders, reduced speeds and lane shifts in addition to intermittent lane, ramp and bridge closures.

Other significant projects will affect the Utah I-15 corridor in Clearfield and South Layton, from Bountiful to Farmington, in North Salt Lake, through Pioneer Crossing at American Fork and from Spanish Fork to Santaquin.

To help truckers and dispatchers plan travel through Utah, UDOT created a web site offering advanced notice of construction closures and delays. iTruck includes an interactive map with updated information on key construction projects as well as recommended travel routes for Utah and surrounding states.

A weekly e-mail construction update called the Trucker's Concierge will also be sent to all ports of entry, rest stops and trucking associations in the western U.S. To sign up for this free e-mail service, contact itruck@intrepidagency.com.
