Allison Transmission has extended its partnership with Daimler Trucks North America for its transmissions to be the exclusive automatic transmission on all DTNA product lines, including Freightliner, Western Star, Freightliner Custom Chassis
and Thomas Built Buses. The transmissions will work in conjunction with engines from DTNA's sister company Detroit Diesel Corporation.

"This partnership will allow Daimler Trucks North America to take advantage of the full complement of Allison's productivity, efficiency and performance benefits developed during years of experience in medium and heavy-duty vocational markets," said Jim Wanaselja, vice president of North American marketing, sales and service for Allison Transmission. "This agreement defines our close working relationship with DTNA and blends technology and value, benefiting both companies."

Freightliner Trucks and Western Star Truck Sales recently announced plans to release Allison Optimized packages across a variety of vocational vehicles. Allison Optimized packages offer a holistic approach to configuring a vehicle's driveline that delivers optimal performance, durability, fuel efficiency and driveline protection for specific vocational trucks.
