The Colorado Department of Transportation has reopened one lane of eastbound and westbound Interstate 70 along the portion of the highway that was closed Monday following a rockslide.
Speed limit along this route has been reduced to 40 mph, and loads wider than 14 feet are restricted from this area, according to CDOT's Twitter page.
Early Monday morning, I-70 in Glenwood Canyon, Colo., was hit by a large rockfall, bringing 20 boulders onto the interstate, ranging in size from three feet to 10 feet in diameter, with the largest weighing about 66 tons.
Wednesday, crews were able to blast and break the rock from the nearby slope. Crews knocked down all of the rocks they were concerned about, so no mitigation work was required.
The blasting brought down additional rock, which crews began clearing on Thursday. Crews worked to make repairs to the drainage system and complete roadway patching in numerous places.
