SkyBitz is making it possible for the American public to track online the exact location of the 2009 Capitol Christmas Tree as it makes its way from Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Eagar, Ariz., to Washington, D.C.
SkyBitz has installed a mobile tracking unit on the trailer that will haul the 85-foot Capitol Christmas Tree. The SkyBitz GLS asset tracking services will report the location of the trailer, at 15-minute intervals. The tracking data, complete with a detailed street-level map of the most recent location, will also be accessible to the general public on the company's web site at www.TrackTheTree.com beginning Nov. 10.
"We are excited to provide this unique and interactive experience for everyone, young and old, to get engaged in this event and the activities and history that surround it," said Craig Montgomery, SkyBitz senior vice president of marketing.
The Capitol Christmas Tree is scheduled to leave Eagar, Ariz., on Nov. 10 and will travel through the state of Arizona for 10 days before making stops at Amarillo, Texas; Tulsa, Okla.; Branson, Mo.; Nashville, Tenn.; Roanoke, Va.; and Chevy Chase, Md. The tree will arrive at the U.S. Capitol Building on Nov. 30, with the lighting ceremony to take place the week of Dec. 7.
