Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks have chosen Terra Environmental Technologies to supply diesel exhaust fluid.
DEF is a liquid solution used in selective catalytic reduction, an exhaust aftertreatment system to help achieve EPA emissions standards for 2010.

TerraCair DEF, as the product is called, is a combination of water and urea. Terra Environmental Technologies will provide all new Mack trucks with an initial fill of DEF at the time of assembly, while dealers will receive the solution in portable one- and 2.5-gallon containers. Volvo dealers will be given retail-sized containers of the product and install initial fill for all new trucks at the New River Valley Plant.

Terra has plans to expand distribution of DEF and grow its relationships further within the trucking industry.

"TET is establishing similar agreements with other vehicle manufacturers," said Michael Bennett, Terra's president and CEO. "We are also deeply involved in developing additional channels for TerraCair DEF distribution, including mini-bulk containers and full tankloads to serve truck stops and fleet fueling facilities."

"The business case for such an infrastructure is certainly there, with nearly all heavy- and medium-duty trucks, and more and more light trucks and passenger cars, utilizing SCR," Slagle said.
