A. Historically, automatic tire inflation systems (ATIS) work to maintain proper tire pressures but cannot provide insight to potential issues like small leaks. For example, if you pick up a nail in your tire, the ATIS automatically fills the tire, and you may not necessarily notice that you have a problem. While the ATIS keeps you rolling in the short term, it only prolongs inevitability of service being required. But if you knew there was a leak—one that you could shuffle around PM schedules and get the truck in sooner, before an incident occurred—wouldn’t you want to know that information?
