Got Questions? Modern Telematics Best Practices

Q. It’s my understanding that Canadian fleets and U.S. fleets operating in Canada have to use a certified ELD to be in compliance. How do we find a certified ELD?

That’s right, unlike in the U.S., Canadian ELDs must have third-party certification to help verify that they are safe, reliable and resistant to tampering. In late 2020, FPI Innovations received accreditation from Transport Canada to provide third-party certifications. Fleets can either contact Transport Canada or FPI Innovations to receive a list of certified ELDs. If you currently have an ELD provider, it is critical that you speak with them to understand if they will be applying for certification and where they are in the process in order to understand if you will be in compliance come June 12.
