The owner of a warehouse and delivery company plans to build what he says will be the premier truck stop and travel center in the Wichita, Kansas, area.

According to The Wichita Eagle, the Air Capitol Travel Center will be on 25 of 76 total acres that Lou Robelli, owner of Air Capitol Delivery & Warehouse, plans to develop at the northwest corner of 85th Street and I-135 in Park City, a Wichita suburb.

Although Robelli is known locally for large warehouse projects, he has 135 trucks on the road in 48 states, hauling dedicated freight.

“There’s really not a good travel center in Kansas,” Robelli told the Eagle. “I’ve wanted to build a truck stop for a long, long time.”

There will be parking for 75 to 100 trucks, and on the remaining acres, he has plans for related business such as a truck wash, a place to get an oil change, and some retail.

Construction is expected to start in the next 60 days, with the truck stop expected to be open next spring.
