Natioinal average diesel prices are still down compared with last year but continues to rise VERY slightly week over week.

National average diesel fuel prices hit $2.44 per gallon as of July 13, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). This is a less than 1-cent rise from the previous week with overall national average prices still down around 61 cents per gallon compared to same time last year. 

So far in 2020, a peak of $3.08 occured the week of Jan. 6 and diesel prices have declined since then. National average gasoline prices are also experiencing a gradual rise, according to AAA. 

Current average diesel prices by region have all increased week-over-week, but are still down year-over-year, according to the EIA: 

  • East Coast: $2.53
  • Midwest: $2.31
  • Gulf Coast: $2.20
  • Rocky Mountains: $2.35
  • West Coast: $2.95
