BP Asphalt launches its new truck safety program, TruckSafe, enabling the company to share its best practices for the safe loading, unloading and transportation of hot liquid asphalt with the entire asphalt industry.
The objective of TruckSafe is to reduce injuries and incidents related to the handling and transporting of hot liquid asphalt via truck.

"We created TruckSafe because we recognized a need among our customers and the industry for more information on the handling and transporting of hot liquid asphalt by truck. This tool helps meet the need for high safety standards and illustrates current BP best practices on how to haul, load and unload liquid asphalt in a safe manner avoiding accidents or harm to the people involved and the environment," said Scott Williams, HSE coordinator at BP Asphalt.

The program kit contains a 20-minute informational DVD, quick reference guide, wall chart and a static cling sticker depicting the proper way to enter and exit a truck. BP Asphalt plans to distribute TruckSafe to its refineries, terminals, customers and carriers over the course of 2008.
