On Dec. 2, U.S. Speaker of the House John Ryan will be ready to light up this 74-foot tall Lutz Spruce on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building with thousands of LED lights and 4,000 ornaments. The official welcoming of the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree and the kickoff to the holidays is a tradition that began in 1964 by House Speaker John W. McCormack.

Convoy Raises Funds for Make-A-Wish

Approximately 100 Make-A-Wish children rode along with truckers in the convoy this year.

It was the most beneficial traffic jam of the year. A convoy of 380 trucks rolled through central Pennsylvania on Mother’s Day, raising more than $300,000 for the Philadelphia, Northern Delaware & Susquehanna Valley chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Photos courtesy of RoadPro.

Trucking for a Really Good Cause

The athletes are the stars at the Special Olympics convoys.<br />

Truck drivers don't always get credit for the good they do. This collection of photos is from a few of the Convoy events Equipment Editor Jim Park has attended over the years. It's easy to tell from the pictures that drivers put a lot into these fundraisers. But it's more than just raising money. It's a bunch of people that often work in isolation coming together for a cause and showing the underlying sense of community that exists among drivers -- and is rarely seen in public.
