Rodeo du Camion

Rodeo du Camion is a trucking event like no other anywhere on Earth. A few dozen otherwise sensible drivers and owner-operators vie for a few thousand dollars in prize money for racing their trucks up a 12% grade hitched to 45-ton loads of 2x4s. Really. Here are a few pictures taken at the event a few years ago, the last time I was up there. Not much has changed, I'm told, and anyone who attends can expect a earful of high-energy music and a face full of diesel exhaust. No, there are no DPFs around here. It's a weekend you won't soon forget and it happens at the end of July. There's some great fishing nearby, too, if you want to make it a mixed getaway. If you have a few days to spare and you want to take in a spactacle like no other, Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec is the place to be next weekend.
